Vehicle struck by gunfire while traveling in Dover

DOVER – A vehicle was struck by gunfire Thursday while traveling on New Burton Road in the area of Waples Avenue, Dover Police spokesman Master Cpl. Ryan Schmid said.

Police said the incident occurred at 8:53 p.m. and officers responded after hearing shots. Officers checked the area and were contacted by the victim, a 38-year-old Hartly male, who said that his vehicle was struck by gunfire while he was driving, causing damage.

There is no suspect description available at this time.
