Uhland Truitt 'Toby' Pepper Jr. MILTON - Uhland Truitt "Toby" Pepper Jr., lifelong resident of Milton, passed away Monday, Dec. 7, 2009, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes. He was 77. Toby was born in Milton, son of the late Uhland Truitt Sr. and Hannah (Johnson) Pepper. He was a machine operator for many years with the Seaford Dupont Nylon plant and retired in 1993. Toby truly loved the water and being outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, crabbing, spending time at the beach and was an avid vegetable and flower gardener. He and his wife also loved to travel and had visited the entire United States, except Hawaii. He attended Eagles Nest Fellowship Church. He was a USAF veteran of the Korean War, serving from Oct. 30, 1951, until Oct. 29, 1955. Toby is survived by his wife of 52 years, Janice (Cropper) Pepper; three children, Uhland Truitt "Tim" Pepper, III and wife Holly, Denver Dean Pepper and wife Helena, and Teresa Dawn Pepper and husband Dewey Barich; five grandchildren, Ryan Elizabeth and Ty Pepper, Tressa and Colleen Dutton and Dylan Pepper; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Eleanor Short. A funeral service will be 1 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 10, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal Street, Milton, where friends may call after 11 a.m. Burial will be in Henlopen Memorial Park.
