Two adults, three juveniles face gun charges in Dover

DOVER — Two adults and three teens, all Dover residents, were arrested on firearms charges after being contacted by officers Wednesday, Dover police spokesman Master Cpl. Ryan Schmid said.

The incident occurred in the area of 200 W. Reed St., when police located a wanted 17-year-old male. He was approached, along with a 16-year-old male and a 17-year-old male, as well as Khalil Smith, 18, and Daniel Fears, 25.

All were taken into custody without incident.

The wanted male was found in possession of a loaded .22-caliber handgun in his waistband, Cpl. Schmid said.

The 16-year-old was found in possession of a loaded 9 mm handgun in his waistband, which was later determined to be stolen, police added.

A search of the location revealed another 9 mm handgun in the area of Mr. Fears, Mr. Smith and the other 17-year-old.

The five were charged with illegal gang participation and firearm offenses.

Mr. Fears was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution, Georgetown, on $57,000 cash bail. Mr. Smith was also committed to SCI and received $62,000 cash bail.

The wanted 17-year-old was committed to the Stevenson House Detention Center, Milford, on $29,200 secured bail.

The second 17-year-old was committed to the Stevenson House on $46,000 secured bail, while the 16-year-old was also committed there, on $42,000 secured bail.
