Berryman Smith, 72 DOVER - Travies Jean Berryman Smith, age 72, departed this life on March 13, 2012, to enter into the presence of God after an extended illness that she bore with dignity and grace. She was born on Aug. 25, 1939, in Fort Riley, Kan., from the union of Travis Berryman and Ruby Booth Berryman. Jean, as she loved to be called, was the wife of Chief Master Sergeant John B. Smith who preceded her in death in 2009. She retired from the Dover Air Force Base in Dover, Del., after working 20 years as a civil servant. Jean was known for her love of cooking, playing bingo ("Jean, Jean the Bingo Queen") taking cruises and following politics. She was also known for her bright smile and sarcastic wit and she was a dedicated military wife and wonderful mother. Preceding her in death were her parents and two siblings, Ronald Berryman and Darlene Walls. She leaves to mourn four children and their spouses, Rodney and Judy Smith of Dover, Anita and Ralph Robinson of Dover, Michele and Nelson Pachot of Yorktown, Va., and Kimberly and Thomas Cuffee of Felton; five grandchildren, Jason Robinson, Cristina and Alyssa Pachot and Christopher and Alanna Smith; two sisters, Doris Kerlegon of Tolleson, Ariz., and Barbara Singer of Los Angeles, Calif.; a brother-in-law, Spurgeon Smith of Bestland, Va.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Services will be 1 p.m., Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at Worship Christian Center, 107 South Street, Camden, where friends may assemble for viewing two hours prior to service. Interment at Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Bear.
