Tommaso Salerno, 80
FREDERICA - Tommaso Salerno passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2024, from his home. Tommaso was born in Castellammare, Italy to Giuseppe Salerno and Palma Curatolo Salerno. He came to the United States when he was 14 years old.
He served 20 years in the U.S. Air Force and 15 years Civil Service as a jet engine mechanic.
He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus Council #9098. Tommaso loved to cook, fish, travel and entertain friends, and make his famous lemoncello!
In addition to his parents, Giuseppe Salerno and Palma Curatolo Salerno, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Vincenza Salerno Barone; and daughter, Palma V. Salerno.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Donna Salerno; sister, Maria (Joe) Fontana; brothers, Geotana (Sara) Salerno, Frank (Rose) Salerno, Joe Salerno; brother in laws, Kennth (Susan) Snyder, Gary (Sheila) Snyder; and 22 nieces and nephews.
Services will take place on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at the Saint Bernadette Catholic Church, 109 Dixon Street, Harrington, DE at 11 AM, a visitation will be held the same day at the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington, DE, between 10-10:45 AM. Interment will be held at Gates of Heaven Cemetery, Dagsboro, on Wednesday, February 28, at 11 AM. Harrington.
In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to the Saint Bernadette Catholic Church, 109 Dixon Street, Harrington, DE 19952; or to the Leukemia Association; or to the Delaware Hospice Center.
