Graham said he had received numerous complaints about noise and disturbances at the club.
  • Mrs. Sam Ellis recorded a net 8-under par 64 to win the summer low-net golf tournament at Green Hill Yacht & Country Club in Quantico. Head golf pro Harry Offutt said the event featured “some of the lowest scores in years by the powder-puff swingers,” adding, “I can’t remember when the ladies ever scored any lower.” Mr. James G. Reynolds was runner-up with a 68.
  • Salisbury was treated to a light show Wednesday night when NASA launched a rocket with a 65-pound payload 104 miles into the evening sky. The rocket payload, an experiment to measure light intensity in the night sky, was retrieved from the ocean 98 miles down range.
