The state’s top Democratic leaders were to spend the next 24 hours in Salisbury as the 1958 election season reaches its peak. Visiting Salisbury are gubernatorial candidate. J. Millard Tawes, state comptroller candidate Louis L. Goldstein and congressional candidate Thomas Johnson. The group toured county businesses today, before returning to campaign headquarters in the former Shore Pontiac Building. A fundraising banquet will be held tonight at Wicomico High School, followed by a reception at the Wicomico Hotel. A rising national star in Democratic circles, U.S. Sen. Frank Church of Idaho, was to attend the banquet, as was Baltimore Mayor Thomas D’Allessandro, who is running for Maryland's U.S. Senate seat.
