DOVER — Three Dover males were charged following a firearm investigation Wednesday, authorities said.
Dover police spokesman Senior Cpl. Ryan Schmid said Lavar Dickson-Lewis, 19; a 17-year-old male; and a 15-year-old male were taken into custody during an incident in the 100 block of Willis Road at 5:31 p.m.
According to police, Mr. Dickson-Lewis and the 17-year-old fled after a group of juveniles they were with was contacted by officers. During the pursuit, the 17-year-old fell to the ground, causing a handgun to fall from his clothing, Cpl. Schmid said.
The two teens were taken into custody after the pursuit. While searching the area that Mr. Dickson-Lewis had run through, officers located a second handgun that had been reported stolen, authorities said. While detaining the suspects, the 15-year-old attempted to remove items from the 17-year-old’s pocket and became disorderly, clenching his fist and becoming aggressive toward officers, Cpl. Schmid said. He was also taken into custody.
Mr. Dickson-Lewis was charged with possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, receiving a stolen firearm and resisting arrest. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution, Georgetown, on $8,000 secured bond.
The 17-year-old was charged with possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, possession of a weapon with an obliterated serial number, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, resisting arrest and criminal mischief. He was released on $6,500 unsecured bond.
The 15-year-old was charged with resisting arrest, menacing and disorderly conduct. He was released on his own recognizance.
