Thomas Vincent Scott LAUREL, DE - Thomas Vincent Scott, age 79, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday June 23, 2010, surrounded by his loving family at his home in Laurel. Tom was born September 14, 1930 in Laurel, Delaware to the late G. Thomas and Olive M. Scott. Graduating from Laurel High School in 1948 and attended the University of Delaware. He later proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and was a Korean War Veteran from 1951-1955. Mr. Scott married Irene J. Wilkins, April 1955, employed by the Diamond State Telephone Company for 29 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church of Laurel, DE. and the American Legion Post #19 of Laurel, Telephone Pioneers and Tall Cedars. Tom is survived by his wife, Irene and two children, a son, T. Allan Scott and his wife Claudia; a daughter, Jo Ann Scott Collins and husband Bruce; three grandchildren, Julie, Jason and Jim Collins all of Laurel, Del.; a sister, Jennie Scott Wharton; and brother in law, Trent of Ohio; a sister in law, Sandra P. Scott of Millsboro, Del; along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents , he is preceded in death by his brother, George W. Scott and nephew George W. Scott, Jr. A Funeral Service was held at the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home 700 West Street Laurel, Delaware 19956 on Monday June 28, 2010. Brother Joe Roszin and Pastor Ed Wilkins officiated. Interment with Military Honors followed in Carey's Cemetery in Millsboro.
