HARRINGTON - Thomas Joseph Martin, of Harrington, left this world on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009, peacefully and in God's grace. He was 59 years old. Mr. Martin ("Tommy") was born March 9, 1950, in Everett, Mass., the youngest son of Helen Patricia McCarthy Martin and Joseph Francis Martin. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He went on to receive an associate's degree from Delaware Technical & Community College in diesel engine mechanics. He then practiced his trade with competence, hard work, and his much-loved sarcastic brand of humor. He was employed as shop foreman at Barr International, Inc. of Federalsburg and Delmar, Md. Tommy married in 1973, and he and his then-wife brought two beloved daughters into the world, Amelia Shannon Martin, age 26, presently of Seattle, Wash.; and Veronica Sue Martin, age 25, presently of Juneau, Alaska. He was very proud of his daughters, and they loved him dearly and will miss him always. Tommy is also survived by his eldest brother, Bruce Martin of Massachusetts and Bruce's wife Eleanor and their children; by his brother Edward Martin of Pennsylvania and Edward's wife Joan and their children; and by Patricia Fowler of Florida and Patricia's husband Richard and their children; and by his daughters' families in Delaware. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m., today, Nov. 3, at the Lofland Funeral Home, 102 Lakeview Avenue, Milford.
