Thomas J. Montgomery

Thomas J. Montgomery, 64 ELLENDALE - Thomas J. Montgomery, of Ellendale, died Sunday, July 25, 2010, at home. He was 64. Tom was born on Oct. 4, 1945, in Philadelphia, Pa., to the late Darrell Montgomery and Beatrice Roberts Montgomery of West Creek, N.J. He was a commercial fisherman for forty years, twenty of which was on his boat the Blue Diamond. He also worked at the DuPont plant in Seaford for Fluor Daniels Corp as a structural welder. Tom served in the Army attached with the 101st Air Borne in Viet Nam. He was a Bronze Star recipient. He was a member of Oakley Church. Tom enjoyed spending time with his family, carpentry, woodworking, riding his motorcycle, and re-building old Harley's. He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Theresa Maxwell. Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife, Pamela of 40 years; three children, Thomas K. Montgomery, Jeremy Montgomery, Harry I. Montgomery, all of Ellendale; six grandchildren, Olivia, Harry, Jeffrey, Julianna, Luke, and Elizabeth; a brother, William J. Montgomery of Barnegat Light, N.J.; a sister, Mary Karch of West Creek, N.J.; and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be on Thursday, July 29, 2010, at 1 p.m. at Oakley Church, in Ellendale. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 28467 DuPont Blvd, Unit 6 Suite 6, Millsboro, DE 19966.
