RIDGELY, Md. - Thomas Harper Lane Sr., 72, of Ridgely, died Monday, Aug. 10, 2009, in Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore. He was born Sept. 11, 1936, in Ridgely to the late Herbert B. and Virginia L. Bradley Lane. He was a former mayor and police commissioner for the Town of Ridgely and instrumental in starting the Ridgely Little League organization. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Helen Blunt Lane; son, Thomas Lane, Jr. of Ridgely; daughter, Karen Brandenburg of Greensboro; brother, Richard Lane of Ridgely; and five grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 14, at St. Benedicts Catholic Church, Ridgely. A visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, in Fleegle and Helfenbein Funeral Home, Greensboro. Interment will be in Ridgely Cemetery, Ridgely.
