Theodore 'Ted' Ressler, 83 CAMDEN - Theodore "Ted" Ressler, of Camden, died Monday, March 1, 2010, at Christiana Hospital. He was 83. Mr. Ressler was born June 14, 1926, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to the late William Ressler and Mary Levy Ressler. He retired after 34 years as a YMCA Professional. Mr. Ressler was one of the founders of the Children's Theater, Inc., and was a member of the Delaware Theater Association, the Kent County Theater Guild and State Representative of American Association of Community Theaters, Eastern States Theater Association and past board member of the Association. He was also on the Leadership Council of AARP and the head of their Safe Driving Program for the state of Delaware and became the head of that program. Then became the Regional Director of the driving course for the North East Region including, DE, NJ, NY, PA and Puerto Rico. Mr. Ressler received the Vigil Honor & Silver Beaver of the Boy Scouts of America as well as receiving the Governors Award for the Arts by Governor Minner and was the recipient of the Dr. Burton Award. He was the 2004 recipient of the AARP Andrus Award. Mr. Ressler was a published author of the Treasury of American Indian Tales. Mr. Ressler is survived by his wife of 31 years, Marjorie Dirickson Ressler of Camden; children, William Ressler of Virgina Beach, Va., Anne Gregson of Schroon Lake, N.Y., Bruce Avery of Dover, Mark Avery of Southampton, N.Y., Thomas Avery of Dover, and Sue Kepley of Viola; foster son, Kenneth White of Doylestown, Pa.; eight grandchildren and two great- grandchildren. Memorial services will be 2 p.m., Sunday, March 14, 2010, at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call one hour prior. Letters of condolence may be sent, and guestbook signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
