Brittingham 'Mom-mom', 77 MILFORD - Sylvia Anne Carroll Brittingham, age 77, of Milford, passed peacefully away on Oct. 26, 2011, at Milford Center. She was born on Nov. 1, 1933, to Thomas Henry Carroll and Anna Messick Carroll. Sylvia met her husband Rodney C. "Sonny" Brittingham at the Milford Roller Rink, on Marshall Street. They were married on Oct. 3, 1952. She was first and foremost a mother and a friend, who enjoyed spending time with her family playing cards, bird watching, doing puzzles, reading and gardening. She was an excellent seamstress and spent many hours at the sewing machine. Sylvia was an enthusiastic NASCAR fan, from the early days of Bobby Allison to recently cheering Jeff Gordon on to another win. While not really a football fan, she enjoyed watching her family cheer for the Eagles. Sylvia loved listening to Robert Goulett as well as any other music the kids were listening to. She was employed over 25 years with Milford Hospital, caring for patients and families while working in labor and delivery or the OR. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brother Dallas Pierce, and her sister Gladys Marie Gober. She is survived by her daughters, Sandi Pinkstaff and companion Andrew Mihaylo of Milford, Carole Brittingham of Harrington, and Lori Kashner and her husband Craig Kashner of Greenwood; her sons, Thomas "Tommy" Brittingham of Milford, Jerrold R. "Jerry" Brittingham and his wife Karen Emory of Ellendale, and C. Russell Brittingham of Arkansas; her grandchildren Heather Pinkstaff, Derek Pinkstaff and his wife Jaime, Kimberlee Brittingham, Jaimee Brittingham and her companion Joe Stevens, Allison Murphy, Alex Murphy, Rebecca Robinson and her friend Matthew, Brian Kashner and his wife Nicole, Kyle Kashner and his companion Julie, Adam Kashner, Cole Kashner, Joni Kashner; and her great-grandchildren Zach, Madison, Lane, Haley, Owen, Gavin, Ciera Emilee, Kaycee, Ace, Clayton, Justin, Lily and Bryce; her brother, Clifford Pierce; and many in-laws, nieces and nephews with whom she shared many fond memories. A memorial service celebrating her life will be 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 29, at the Lofland Funeral Home, 102 Lakeview Avenue, Milford where friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. Interment of her ashes will be private at the convenience of the family. The family would like to request that you do not shed tears because she is gone, but cherish her memory and let it live on through a donation or contribution, in her memory, to Milford Center, 700 Marvel Road, Milford, DE 19963; or to the Silver Lake Center, 1080 Silver Lake Blvd, Dover, DE 19904.
