Susan A. Durham

DOVER - Susan A. Durham of Dover passed away on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 in Kent General Hospital, under the compassionate care of the Delaware Hospice. She was surrounded by her devoted family as she passed into the loving arms of Jesus. She was 62. Mrs. Durham was born February 1, 1950 in Lincoln, Nebraska to the late Denton and Helena Garton. She had worked as an Instructional Aide in Capital School District for 20 years, retiring in 2005. During that time she thoroughly enjoyed her job teaching young children at both Towne Point and Fairview Elementary. Mrs. Durham is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Harlan D. Durham of Dover; daughters, Taunja Durham of Elkton, Md., Teena Friend and her husband Larry of Dover; grandchildren, Zoey Durham, Renee, Clay and Macy Friend; brother, William Garton and his daughter, Sarah of Phoenix, Ariz.; her birth mother, Laura Laughlin of New Braunfels, Texas; and two sisters she found later in life, Barbara and Judy both of Texas. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Sunday, June 10, 2012 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be in Immanuel Union United Methodist Cemetery, Cheswold. The family suggests contributions be made to the Delaware Hospice, 911 S. Dupont Highway, Dover, DE 19901. Letters of condolence may be sent, and guestbook signed at torbertfuneral.com.
