Steven William Lakatos, 73 CAMDEN - Steven William Lakatos, of Camden, passed away Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was 73. He was born on May 29, 1936, in Carteret, N.J., where he was a lifelong resident. Steven served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy where he served aboard the USS Edisto AGB2. He had worked as a dispatcher for various trucking companies. Steven enjoyed bowling, shooting darts, playing pool, gambling in Atlantic City and going to Disney in Florida. He loved the New York Yankees. He was a member of AARP and the USS Edisto AGB2 Association. Besides his parents, Stephen and Elizabeth Lakatos, he was preceded in death by his wife, Antoinette R. (Aleszczyk) Lakatos in September 2009; and a brother, Ernest Lakatos. He is survived by a son, Robert J. Lakatos and his wife Sandy of Camden, with whom he lived since October; a daughter, Laurie-Anne Maloney and her husband Mark of Loxahatchee, Fla.; four grandchildren, Colleen, Michael, Michelle and Christopher; three great-grandchildren, Alexa, Madison and Braden; an aunt, Helen Baranczuk of Edison, N.J.; four nieces, Cathy, Patty, Lisa, and Donna; and several great nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, Nov. 20, at Chubenko Funeral Home, 625 Port Reading Ave., Port Reading, N.J. Services will begin at 9 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 21, at the Chubenko Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Family R.C. Church, Carteret, N.J. Burial will follow in Clover Leaf Memorial Park, Woodbridge, N.J. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Delaware Hospice Team and eternal gratitude to his caregiver Sandy.
