DOVER - Stephen Paul Norton passed away, Friday, February 23, 2024 at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford after a long battle with cancer.
Mr. Norton was born February 28, 1948 to the late Charles James Norton and Gloria Marion Swanson Norton of Philadelphia PA. He moved to Dover when he was seven and graduated from Dover High School in 1965.
He served in the United States Navy for 4 years, including tours of duty in Vietnam. Mr. Norton worked in the automobile industry in management and finance, retiring in 2009. He will be remembered as a kind, caring and compassionate man with a wonderful sense of humor. Mr. Norton loved to read just about anything and carried all kinds of trivia around in his head. He will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his brother, Ray Norton.
He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Rebecca Stickley Norton of Dover; children, Jennifer Ziervogel and her husband Troy of Salisbury, MD, Stephen Norton and his partner, Liz Austin of Vadnais Heights, Minnesota, Jeremy Norton and his wife Jenee of Salisbury, MD; stepsons, Daniel Shortridge and his wife Rachel Kipp of Dover and Tom Shortridge and his wife Anna Bowers of Fairfax, VA; grandchildren, Jake and Grant Ziervogel, Jenabelle Norton, Matty and Liam Kipp-Shortridge and Dassi Shortridge-Pitzer.
Services will be private.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the Delaware Veterans Home, 100 Delaware Veterans Blvd., Milford, DE 19963.
