PRINCESS ANNE — Have you lost a loved one due to death, separation, illness or some other calamity? Does this time of year have you feeling sad because of these changes in your life?

Then the annual Blue Christmas service noon Wednesday, Dec. 17 may be the special service of healing that you need.

The Rev. Deacon Christine “Chris” Sabas of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, the Rev. Amy Lawrence of Manokin Presbyterian, and the Rev. Stephanie Clayville of St. Mary the Virgin Episcopal churches along with Diocese of Easton Archdeacon Laura Harbaugh will lead the annual Blue Christmas service at St. Andrew’s, 11710 Beckford Avenue in Princess Anne.

Bring a picture of a loved one whom you are missing or grieving over, and during the service you will be invited to bring it forward to place on the high alter along with a votive candle.

“For some, memories of past experiences and the pain of present experiences and situations can become overwhelming,” the hosts shared.

“Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, or New Year’s Eve can be very difficult and a reminder of the challenges in our lives. In this service, we invite you to listen. We invite you to pray. We invite you to sing. We invite you to be anointed with oil. We invite you to meditate upon the pain and anguish you may bring — and we invite you to offer your pain to the Christ child.

“And we trust that you will find hope and comfort in knowing that you are not alone.”

Participants will gather in the Nave, music will be by church organist Chris Miles as Deacon Sabas offers reflection and Holy Communion.
