Speak Up: Photos showing sleeping police officers being investigated

Posted

Dover police recently announced that an investigation is ongoing into photos appearing to show two officers sleeping in their patrol vehicles. The public notification was posted on the agency’s Facebook page and read: “The Dover Police Department is aware of a photo(s) circulating online that appear to show two of our officers asleep in their patrol vehicles on Monday night/Tuesday morning. We are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this issue and the appropriate corrective action will occur in short order. The Dover Police Department Code of Conduct is modeled off of a national standard. That standard will be applied to this incident. The behavior is unacceptable to our agency, unfair to our citizens, and certainly outside of department policy.”

  • So what? Doesn’t bother me at all. Glad somebody took the job, and that same guy is going to run in your door to help you when someone’s breaking in. Probably working too many hours. And I’m sure the equipment in the car is on and Audible. Move on here. Thanks for protecting us. — P. Justin Redefer
  • How’s he running to my door when he’s sleeping? — Michael Dernberger
  • I’m sure it’s a quick break. They are so unappreciated, and I’m sure they deserved it for a quick second. — Debbie Virdin
  • People don’t understand the stress our officers are under. — Frank Tolson
  • You guys are disgusting! Divide, divide, divide! — Paul Davis
  • Police can’t do anything right. Maybe those complaining should join the police force. — Tara Donofrio
  • If only these gangs and murderers would take a break like this, we would be fine. — Mark Whitham
