Speak Up: Milford Food Bank nears finish, as demand continues

Posted

Just four months ago, the building was all steel framing. The second level had no floor. Now, with the Food Bank of Delaware’s future Milford base of operations only months away from completion, that’s all changed.

The 67,000-square-foot building will be complete before the end of the year, said external affairs head Chad Robinson, with a grand opening likely to take place in December. Operations will gradually move from the Food Bank’s Mattlind Way building, which is less than a quarter of the size, to the new one.

Response to I-95 workaround question

A recent tanker truck crash and subsequent fire caused the collapse of a bridge and severed traffic flow on the East Coast’s main north-south highway. Forecasts suggested it could be weeks before rebuilding was complete, but “we will have I-95 reopened within the next two weeks,” Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro said June 17. If you travel that section of the interstate, what’s your workaround route to miss the closed portion?

  • Even with Interstate 95 open, I have always gone over the Delaware Memorial Bridge through New Jersey and crossed back over to get to Philly .... usually less traffic and hassle. — Nabeela Jeanne Black Swartz
