Speak Up: Downstate hospitals strengthen opposition to ChristianaCare expansions

Posted

At a public hearing Oct. 20, representatives of Bayhealth, Beebe Healthcare and TidalHealth expressed their opposition to ChristianaCare opening microhospitals in Camden and Georgetown, saying there is already care in these areas and that the proposal will not bring down medical costs.

  • It’s not the cost. It’s the care you get. Yes to Christiana. — Ronald Sinclair
  • Absolutely bring ChristianaCare to Sussex County. It’s not just about cost; it’s the quality of care. — Diane Duerr Partridge
  • Sussex needs good healthcare. It’s time for help. Sussex wants Christiana hospitals. — Anthony Fasano
  • “Some” of the doctors don’t care, and the others do not reach out. We went to Jefferson Health because my husband was not getting the care he needed. So, bring on the competition because, for me, things will get better. By the way, the nurses are awesome. — Beverly Hay
  • CC is likely a major upgrade from Bayhealth and the other Delaware hospitals. This is probably good news. — Richard McKee
  • Competition is great. The wait times at Bayhealth are outrageous. The quality of care at Bayhealth is horrible. What is Bayhealth afraid of? — Sandy Johnson
  • When you have to wait a year to get an appointment for principal care management, then we need more facilities. — Bob Hice
  • When the current facilities are not enough, there needs to be more! It almost sounds like they want to keep the monopoly. — Sherri Larimore
  • There is not enough. — Roseann Salvatore Amorates
  • Sussex needs more hospitals and more doctors and nurses. We should be welcoming them with open arms. — Michael Steele
  • It’s time for Bayhealth Hospital, Kent Campus to close down for good. It’s time for a new hospital. Call Christiana in, outside of Dover. — Francis George
