Speak Up: Delaware’s unemployment rate drops

Posted

The First State’s unemployment rate dropped for the fifth straight month, falling to 5.4% in August. The positive trend stood out to Tom Dougherty, as he analyzed the Delaware Department of Labor’s most recent monthly report.

  • Probably because more people got kicked off their benefits. Delaware unemployment is in shambles and is one of the most horribly run facilities in Delaware. Gov. John Carney needs to get this situation under control. It’s ridiculous what is going on over at the division of unemployment right now and the number of people not getting paid. — Christopher Joyce
  • Huh. All the Trumpets are saying that all the bums are getting unemployment money, so that’s why they are not working. But you are saying people had a hard time getting any help. Who is right? — John Smith
  • I personally know staff from Wesley College who have not received a penny and were terminated June 15. Coaches from June 30 who never received a penny. The unemployment office should have all managers fired. — Stephen Malkowski
  • Oh, people are finally going back to work and getting off welfare, or should I say middle-class taxes that we have paid in? — Laura Wing
  • Funny, I still see hiring signs all over Delaware. Oh, how about canceling the unemployment benefits for those who won’t go back to work, too? — Willie Preacher
  • Thank you to the Biden-Harris administration for this mess. — Vic San
  • Thanks to the orange wave for leaving this mess for Biden to fix. — Charlie Harper
