FELTON - Solomon T. "Toby" Howell, 68, of Felton, passed away in the comfort of his own home on Thursday, April 7, 2011, after a long illness with his little dog, Runt-Runt by his side. Born on June 2, 1942, in Big Cove Tannery, Pa., he was the son of the late Benjamin Harrison and Amy Bell (Hall) Howell. Toby, as he was affectionately known by many, was self-employed for many years. Later he worked in security and recycling as an environmental specialist. Toby loved to help others and unselfishly gave to many. He loved telling jokes and took great pleasure in making his friends and family laugh. In his spare time, he loved to hunt and fish. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Andy Howell; and two sisters, Lucille Stafford, and Dora Brink. He leaves many wonderful memories to his four children, Cindy L. Mollohan, Paula M. Hume, Shawn Howell, and Sabrina Howell; three children he helped to raise, Kenneth and Abner Coppock, and James Case; nine siblings, Norma Chaney, Rosalee Johnson, Ruby Weinert, Bernice Nicholson, Linda Powell, Jerry, Marcus, Carl and Randy Howell; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Friends may visit with his family from 1 to 2 p.m., Saturday, April 16, at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home LLC, 212 N. Broad Street, Middletown, where a memorial service will be 2 p.m. Interment will be private. In honor of Toby's love for animals, memorial contributions can be made to the SPCA, 32 Shelter Circle, Camden, DE 19934. Arrangements by Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home LLC, Middletown.
