Reporter Joseph Edelen outlined the rejection of the proposal to restrict SNAP benefits. The local officials tabled the proposal of no candy or sugary drinks with SNAP benefits. This does not make sense to any taxpayer if this program stays the course with many people having Type 1 diabetes and obesity, only to pay for health care for these same problems. Just as people on SNAP want the choice to buy junk food, candy and sugary drinks, they also have the choice to get off SNAP.
