Smoot: Current White House corruption noted after Cheney’s death

Posted

In the wake of the death of former Vice President Dick Cheney, it is time to blame the real creators of the criminal activity by the president, his allies in government and the “Make America Great Again” movement. I can say that I rarely, if ever, agreed with Cheney’s policies. But one thing I can say with pride is that he was a true American, who believed in our Constitution and the honest way that public officials should conduct themselves. He was a rock-ribbed Republican, who endorsed Kamala Harris because she was honest, as opposed to Donald Trump’s criminality and self-serving conduct. And he and his daughter were the only Republicans who stood up in the House of Representatives to honor those who died Jan. 6, 2021, sacrificing themselves to protect our democracy from its greatest enemy: Donald Trump and his Republican supporters.

Therein lies where to place the blame for the criminality in the White House and corruption of the greatest level in American history. It lies with all the Republicans who have abandoned our Constitution in favor of worshipping the false prophet of Donald Trump. That also includes local Republicans who have not spoken out against Trump, as well as the evangelistic ministers and professed Christian believers who have been silent, while Christ’s teachings are routinely betrayed whenever they speak about their political decisions. Nov. 4’s elections gave us some hope. The Republicans, local and nationally, will realize that what Trump is doing is not only unconstitutional but un-Christian. But I have my doubts because they keep their heads in the sand.
