I could not agree more with Deirdre Taylor’s Opinion on term limits for our politicians (“Members of Congress need to be term-limited”).
It appears that most of them did not get elected to help their people. Sadly, it appears the only reason for most is to just get rich. I would love to see a chart that shows Congress members’ worth before getting elected and then a couple years after. For example, the worth of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., before being elected was $700,000. Today, it’s over $200 million. She is not alone.
We need to force our politicians to keep the office, not for getting rich, but to help the American people. We need to pass a bill to limit terms to six years. Bills are not being passed because people are afraid of not getting chosen in their next election.
They need to eliminate the legal insider trading that makes these people millionaires. Pay them a reasonable salary and let them do the job of focusing on the American people and not becoming multimillionaires. We need term limits.
