I want to express how proud I am of the students who recently protested against the immigration and enforcement actions. This shows that there are young people who are following the news, and when they see something they don’t like, they are willing to step up and speak their minds.
I think our schools should embrace this and encourage it. I would suggest that schools offer outlets to let their students express their views. Students should have someone they can approach to express their plans to have a demonstration or something similar. That way, they can come up with an idea that won’t interrupt normal school operations — maybe a volunteer picket line on a Saturday in front of the school.
But don’t silence these young people. Hopefully, some will become our leaders of tomorrow.
