I have said this before, and I will continue to say it. We can’t control how easy it is for people to get guns, including teens. Every day, we hear how the police are involved in a high-speed chase and find numerous guns on the suspects. Every day, we hear that someone’s house has been shot up. Young kids are caught bringing guns to school in their bookbags. Teens are bragging on Facebook with pictures of the guns they have.
There are too many guns out there, and they will always be readily available. We need to think outside the box for ideas to stop some of this gun violence. I’d like to make it harder to buy ammunition. I think that we should only allow permitted individuals to buy ammo. If you have a permit to carry a gun, you can buy ammo. If we want to allow younger individuals and non-gun owners to buy ammo, then at the very least, they have permits that say they have attended gun-training programs. I’m sure the National Rifle Association will not like this idea.
Will this end gun violence? Of course not. But we need to start somewhere. Laws do not seem to be working. We need to think outside the box. Maybe this idea won’t work. OK. But what is your idea?
