Sipple: Civility legislation is ‘laughable’ but necessary

Posted

Just the fact that there is a need to pass a resolution to force legislators to be civil with each other should concern all of us.

This is what our country has come to. We are bombarded by a president and his Cabinet constantly going after fellow Americans, with soldiers in our streets. Certain news shows constantly host commentators who seem to relish the fact that there is such separation and who stoke the fires of this separation. There was a time not so long ago that we would have never imagined that there would be troops in our cities and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents killing and harassing American citizens, further causing separation in our cities.

So now, we have cabinets in each state that seem content on letting this happen. Now, they need a resolution to at least be civil with each other. It’s almost laughable, if it wasn’t for the fact that they need to work together to get America back to a time when we didn’t need to be ordered to get along.
