Shawn R. 'Doc' Dougherty, 44

DOVER - Shawn R. "Doc" Dougherty, of Dover, passed away suddenly at home Wednesday, June 18, 2008. He was 44.

Shawn was born Dec. 5, 1963, in Pawtucket, R.I., son of Leesona F. Dougherty and William L. Dougherty.

He loved life and lived it to the fullest during his short life.

He had a big heart and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends most of all, followed closely by riding Harleys with his best friend Larry Solomon.

Shawn was a life long Boston Red Sox fan and could often be found watching games with his mom, Lee.

Shawn is survived by his parents, both of Dover. He also leaves to mourn his loss his sister and brother-in-law, Kelly and Carl Mears of Milford; his sister, Erin Sebastian of Dover; and his sister, Meghan Brooks of Milton. Shawn will also be missed immensely by his nephew and his wife, Mark and Tobi Schafer of Dover; his nieces, Ashley Mears of Milford, Emily and Tori Sebastian of Dover and Ava Kaser of Milton; and his great-nephew, Trent "Cliff" Schafer of Dover.

Lastly, Shawn leaves behind a group of lifelong friends, most importantly Larry and Denise Solomon of Frederica, whose love and support helped him through some of the most challenging times of his life. His family thanks them for their unwavering devotion to their son and brother.

Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Saturday at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford St., Dover. Friends may call for a viewing from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. The family requests that those in attendance dress casually.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions made to a charity of choice.

Letters of condolence may be sent and guestbook signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
