MARYDEL - Shawn "Shawnyboy" Bates passed away on July 8, 2012. He was born in Dover, Del., on April 29, 1979. He went to school at North Caroline High School in Ridgely, Md. He was a long time employee of George & Lynch in which he loved being an operator and working in the construction field. He loved spending time with his friends and family. His interest included fishing, riding and working on four wheelers, dirt bikes and motorcycles, wrestling & boxing, as his children say, "he was a true adrenaline junkie, like driving fast cars". He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Ben Hanna; and paternal grandparents, James and Mary Bates; and brother, Edward Bates Jr. He is survived by his parents, John and Erin Toulson; his children, Jordan Howe, Ashlynn Bates, Alexis Bates and Dominick Bates; step-children, Desiray Korell, Jasmyn Korell, Autumn Bates & Miranda Howe and their mothers; maternal grandmother, Katherine Turney: sister, Nicole Toulson; brother, Jon Paul Toulson; and numerous other family members and friends. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 15,2012 at Pippins Funeral Home, 119 W Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, DE. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the funeral home to help defray costs.
