Shanley Prouse Smith Jr.

Smith, Jr. 80 FELTON - Shanley Prouse Smith, Jr. 80, of Felton died on Sunday, January 3, 2016 at Capitol Nursing Home, in Dover. He was born in Smyrna, son of the late Shanley P. Smith and Sadie L. McNatt Smith. His wife Bertha Smith preceded him in death in 2004; and a brother, Thomas McNabb. Shanley served in the US Army and worked as a security guard for Playtex prior to retirement. Shanley loved fishing and hunting and raised beagles and trained them for hunting. He also owned and trained several horses. He is survived by four children, Debbie Ranshaw, Shanley P. Smith III, Robert B. Smith and Jo Anne Dones; five siblings, Dorrie Kessinger, Kenneth H. Smith, Sidney R. Smith, Mary Ann Couture and William H. Smith. Also, several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 12 p.m., Friday, January 8, 2016 in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, Main Street, Felton where friends may call from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. for a viewing. Interment will be Smyrna Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna. In lieu of flowers donations to the Alzheimer's Association Georgetown Regional Office, P.O. Box 625, Georgetown, DE 19947.
