Those interested in running for a seat in Delaware’s May 13 school board elections must file a notice of candidacy with the Department of Elections office for the county conducting their respective elections by Friday, March 7, at 4:30 p.m. in order to be listed on the ballot.
To be eligible to run for a school board, candidates must be U.S. citizens and Delaware residents and live in the school district where they are seeking office. Candidates must be 18 or older at the time of the election, may not be paid employees of that school district and must never have been convicted of embezzlement.
Candidates also must obtain a fingerprinted Delaware background check, a national criminal background check and a review by the Child Protection Registry.
Eligibility requirements, candidate filing forms and a list of filed candidates are available at elections.delaware.gov/school.
