Delaware high school students gearing up for careers in agriculture can now apply for scholarships through the Delaware Farm Bureau.
The scholarships are offered by the Delaware Farm Bureau’s Women’s Committee, Young Farmers & Ranchers Committee and the three county farm bureaus.
Each group reviews submitted applications and offers scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $2,500 to awardees for the upcoming school year.
To support the scholarship program, the Women’s Committee and YF&R each fundraise throughout the year. The Women’s Committee allocates some of the profits from its food booth at the annual Delaware State Fair to the scholarship opportunities, while the YF&R hosts a Strawberry Festival in May at Bobola Farms & Florist and the annual Antique Tractor Pull in July at the Delaware State Fair to benefit the students.
Scholarship applications can be found at defb.org and should be submitted no later than 4 p.m. May 3.
