SBA’s 2022 Delaware Small Business Award Winners Named

WILMINGTON — To celebrate National Small Business Week, the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Delaware District Office has named its 2022 Delaware Small Business Award winners.

“As a local commemoration of the presidentially designated National Small Business Week — celebrated this year May 2-5 — these awards recognize the achievements of small business, as well as small-business champions and lenders in Delaware,” said SBA Delaware director Michelle Harris.

“SBA’s small-business award winners have truly distinguished themselves and represent the very best that the Delaware small-business community has to offer.”

This year’s recipients are:

  • Small Business Person of the Year — Lisa M. St. Clair, Tail Bangers, Millsboro. Founded in 2003, Tail Bangers is a bakery producing fresh, healthy dog treats from exclusively U.S.-sourced ingredients.
  • Woman-Owned Small Business of the Year — Jennifer McMillan, JennyGems, Harbeson. This home-decor-and-gift brand manufactures products at its Harbeson facility. JennyGems pieces are sold at its gift shop, in select boutiques and online.
  • Minority-Owned Small Business of the Year — Jason and Joy Hunt, Elite Feet, Middletown. This family-owned and -operated specialty running store sells footwear and apparel for the entire family.

The 2022 Lending Award winners are:

  • Top Delaware SBA 7(a) Program Lender by number of loans — M&T Bank.
  • Top Delaware SBA 7(a) Program Lender by dollar amount — WSFS Bank.
