MILTON - Sarah Wagamon Burnham passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2016. She had been cared for by her two devoted caregivers, Lorna and Mable, and recently by the caring nurses of the Delaware Hospice Center. Sarah was a hometown Miltonian who loved her town and loved telling the history of Milton to newcomers. She was a member of the Milton Historical Society and had served as the secretary for two years in the past. She was born on Aug. 15, 1929 to the late Daniel and Elsie (King) Wagamon. She had worked as a legal secretary for a number of years in Georgetown. Mrs. Burnham was a lifelong member of Goshen U.M. Church, a member of the Goshen U.M. Women, Milton Bridge Club, Order of the Eastern Star, Milton Cheer Center, the Red Hat's Society, the Ladies Supper Club of Milton, and a past charter member of the Women's Club of Milton, as well as a past member of the RV Camping Club with her husband, Jack. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dorsey 'Jack' Burnham, Jr.; and her brother, George Wagamon. Sarah is survived by her cousin, William H. Lentz (Frances), of Wilmington; nephew, Claude 'Skip' Burnham, Jr. (Fay); she will be missed by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 31, 2016 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, Milton, DE 19968, where friends may call after 12 noon. Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Milton. Flowers are accepted or donations in Mrs. Sarah's memory can be made to Goshen U.M. Church, 103 Mulberry St., Milton, DE 19968.
