HARRINGTON - Sarah Evelyn Layton passed away peacefully on Sat., September 26, 2015 at the Milford Center, Genesis Eldercare surrounded by her family. Sarah was born in Harrington; the daughter of the late William and Pauline (Hall) Lord. She worked as a manager in the retail industry, working for Woolworth's, Woolco and Wilmington Dry Goods, all in Dover throughout her career. In her younger years, she loved to crochet. She enjoyed eating seafood and enjoyed spending time tending to her flower garden. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, for her family was the most important part of her life. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Elmer Russum in 1995; her second husband, Raymond Moore in 2000; her third husband, Walter Layton in 2009; two brothers, Johnny Lord and William Lord; and two sisters, Jane Carpenter and Ann Jump. She is survived by one daughter, Jackie Vincent and her husband, Jimmy; four sons, Danny Russum and his wife, Janet, Doug Russum and his wife, Pat, David Russum and his companion, Janice and Dennis Russum and his wife, Heidi; one brother, Bobby Lord; three sisters, Mary Pitlick, Laura Betts and Audrey Zeitler; 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. The family would like to offer a special thank you to her neighbor Dorothy for her love and support she gave Evelyn over the past few months. Friends may call from 1-2 p.m. on Thurs., October 1, 2015 at the McKnatt, Carpenter & Baker Funeral Home, 50 Commerce Street, Harrington where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
