Sarah Elizabeth Hjort, 95 DOVER - Sarah Elizabeth (Johnson) Hjort died Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009, at Pinnacle Rehabilitation Home and Health, Smyrna. She was 95. Sarah was born on July 10, 1914, in Jackson, Tenn., to the late Dommie C. (D.1918) and Gertrude May (McKibbon) Johnson (D.1925). Sarah and husband Robert were married on March 16, 1934, in Oakland, Calif., and traveled to Portland, Maine, to begin their married life. They later lived in Portsmouth, N.H., and finally in Rochester, N.H. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Robert E. Hjort; her son, Robert W. Hjort; sisters, Baby Margaret Johnson, and Mary Emma "Tom" Poole; and a brother, Benjamin Johnson. Sarah is survived by her daughter, J. Charlene Keener, with whom she lived, and husband James of Dover; her daughter-in-law, Anita C. Hjort of New Sharon, Maine; four grandsons, David Keener, Steven Keener, Matthew Hjort, and Jonathan Hjort; and four great-grandchildren. Viewing will be from 7 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 16, at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming. Burial will be in Rochester, N.H., at a later date beside her husband. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to a charity of choice. Letters of condolences can be sent via www.pippinfuneralhome.com.
