CAMBRIDGE — Balloons, books, and popsicles! Sandy Hill Elementary Kindergarten teachers and Judy Center Staff along with Sgt. Patton and Chief Dan Dvorak from the Cambridge Police Department walked the neighborhood along Greenwood Avenue the afternoon of July 19 to promote school readiness.

Teachers Nikki Harding, Taylor Kohn, Valerie Friedel, and Julie Lewis met their former and future students and their families while passing out popsicles and books from the Dorchester Early Childhood Advisory Council Book Wagon.

Sandy Hill Judy Center Coordinator, Chareka Harris, provided music and encouragement for families to come out and meet the teachers. Parents were also given informational flyers on reading with their child, Imagination Library, and the upcoming Learning Parties for families in the Sandy Hill district.

Devon Beck, Family and Student liaison; Jamelle Woolford Nance, Judy Center service coordinator, and Donna Greenleaf, coordinator for Early Childhood lent support for the activity and joined in the fun!

For more information regarding the Learning Parties that will be held at the Sandy Hill Judy Center on Aug. 10, 15, and 17, or to learn more about the Sandy Hill Judy Center and school readiness, please contact the Sandy Hill Judy Center at 410-221-5268.
