Sandra McCarthy, 62

FREDERICA - Sandra McCarthy, of Frederica, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at home. She was 62. Mrs. McCarthy was born Sept. 13, 1946, on Long Island, N.Y., to the late Harry Clark and Grace Ward Clark. She was employed by Harvest Years Senior Center for 11 years, a job she enjoyed and loved. She enjoyed being in her home, going to the casino with her sisters, playing cards and bingo, cooking, being with her family, and she was also an avid follower of "American Idol." Mrs. McCarthy was preceded in death in 1997 by her beloved husband of 27 years, Milton McCarthy. She is survived by her much loved daughter, Stacy McCarthy and her fiancé Christopher Dowd of Long Island, N.Y. She is also survived by two sisters, Joan McGullam and her husband Fred of Cary, Ill., and Terry Budrewicz and her husband Charles of Dover. She is also survived by three nephews, David Dini and his wife Laura, and Scott McCarthy and Robert Budrewicz of Delaware and her only niece, Lisa Dini of Long Island, N.Y. Sandy also had four great-nephews and nieces, Frank, Taylor, Gianni, and Gabriella. She also leaves a dear friend of 20 years, Evelyn Armstrong. Services will be held at Torbert Funeral Home on S. Bradford St in Dover. The viewing will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 17. There will be and a private service on Saturday, interment will follow at Barretts Chapel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 92 Reads Way, Suite 205, New Castle, DE 19720.
