GEORGETOWN - Sandra K. "Sandy" (Montgomery) Moore passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 3, 2023 at her son's home in Milton, surrounded by her family.
Sandy was born in Wilmington, daughter of the late Harry and Thelma Ruth (Eddins) Montgomery. She resided most of her life in the New Castle area until relocating with her family to Sussex County in 1981.
Sandy lived a quiet simple life and enjoyed serving others. She worked as a bartender for many years, most recently with the Elks Lodge in Lewes, and was a cafeteria worker at Rehoboth Elementary School for 10 years from where she retired. Sandy especially found joy in spending time with her grandchildren and watching them play sports. You could also find her joining them having fun playing board games.
In addition to her parents; Sandy was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Moore; and two brothers, Harry Montgomery, and Bo Montgomery.
She is survived by three sons, Richard B. Carey and wife Terri, David Connell, and James Connell; six grandchildren, Richard Carey, Hunter Carey, Austin Carey, Jessie Dobies, Casey Connell, and Amber Connell; two great-grandsons, Levi and Mason; a sister, Lois Weir and husband Ronald; a sister-in-law, Peggy Montgomery (wife of Bo); as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at Crossroad Community Church, 20684 State Forest Road, Georgetown, Del; where a time of visitation for family and friends will begin at 10:00am. Please use the Conference Center entrance.
Burial will be held Monday, December 11, 2023 in Lewisville, PA.
In lieu of flowers the family welcomes memorial contributions to the church.
