Samuel Edgar Glenn

ROCK HALL, Md. - Samuel Edgar Glenn, Jr., 88, of Rock Hall, Maryland died on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at Chester River Manor in Chestertown, Md. He was born in Rock Hall to the late Samuel Edgar Sr. and Elsie Coleman Glenn, and resided in the same house in which he was born. He was a graduate of Rock Hall High School class of 1940 and on May 10, 1947 he married Anna Rosalee Smith of Rock Hall. Mr. Glenn served his country in the United States Army during WWII. After an honorable discharge he returned home and went to work as a waterman for several years before taking a job with Aberdeen Proving Ground, where he worked until his retirement in 1980. He was a life member of the Rock Hall Volunteer Fire Company where he just celebrated his 70th year of service. He was also a member of Rock Hall United Methodist Church, the Gideons International, and both the Sgt. Preston Ashley American Legion Post #228 in Rock Hall and the Frank M. Jarman American Legion Post #36 in Chestertown. Mr. Glenn was known for his vast knowledge and dedication to the fire company. He is survived by his sons, Thomas "Tommy" Glenn and his wife Pamela of Dagsboro, Del., Robert "Knobby" Glenn and his wife Rebecca of Rock Hall; brothers, George Glenn and his wife Betty, and Walter "Pee Wee" Glenn and his wife Kay; grandchildren, Thomas E. Glenn, Jr. and his wife Leslie, Jason W. Glenn and his wife Corrine, R. Andrew Glenn and his wife Jennifer, Valerie D. Glenn, and Cindy L. Lawrence and her husband Jim; along with six great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Rosalee Glenn; a daughter, Joyce Faye Glenn; and two sisters. Services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at Rock Hall United Methodist Church. Relatives and friends may call 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at Fellows, Helfenbein, and Newnam Funeral Home, 130 Speer Road, Chestertown. Interment will be in Wesley Chapel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Rock Hall Volunteer Fire Company, P.O.
