Salisbury's Delmarva Veteran Builders celebrates 10th anniversary

Posted

Delmarva Veteran Builders welcomed the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce’s members, family and friends to the June SACC’s Business After Hours at the company’s headquarters in Downtown Salisbury.

The event turned into an epic “block party” and celebration of DVB’s 10th anniversary of providing commercial general contracting, designing/building and construction management.

The crowd was welcomed by DVB’s leadership team: Chris Eccleston, Founder and President; Daniel Mills, Vice President of Business Development; and Kathryn Ellis, Head of Operations.

“Ten years ago we had the idea that we wanted to bring the ‘veteran’ attitude to the Delmarva landscape, and I think that we can say that we have done that as we have been recognized by the Secretary of Defense at the Pentagon and we have been ranked nationally on the INC 5000 List three times in a row; a testament to the men and women that work at Delmarva Veteran Builders,” said Eccleston.

“The military and the construction industry have a lot of parallels,” he said. “The men and women that join the military are trained not to fail, have a winning attitude and they want to serve. And you translate that to a construction project that has a clear deliverable, stay on task, work as a team, and end up building something.”

Salisbury Mayor Jack Heath presented Eccleston and the Delmarva Veteran Builders team with a certificate in recognition; state Sen. Mary Beth Carozza presented a citation for the company’s 10 years of servicing the Delmarva Peninsula and providing jobs to veterans.

DVB was founded in January 2013 by Eccleston, a U.S. Navy veteran, with the specific intent to provide quality construction jobs for local Delmarva veterans. It is the region’s only commercial construction firm dedicated to bringing employment to Armed Forces veterans and has become one of the fastest-growing companies in the nation, all while maintaining at least a 50 percent veteran and reservist workforce.

DVB’s services extend to general contracting, construction management, interior and exterior renovations, new building construction, renovations of occupied facilities, phased construction operations, water and pump station construction, and subcontracting of general trade packages.

Guests at the Business After Hours were enlivened by a DJ, tasted a delightful buffet provided by Taylor’s BBQ, libations and had the chance to win a door prize. A 50/50 raffle was held to support the SACC Foundation’s Wor-Wic Community College scholarship fund – the winner, Kate Deckenback, donated her winnings back to the fund.

The next SACC Business After Hours will be hosted by NAI Coastal on West Market Street this Thursday, July 13, from 5 to 7 p.m. To register for this and other upcoming events, visit salisburyarea.com.
