Salisbury Police are investigating a shooting and assault at Mojo’s Urban Eatery that occurred on Monday at 2 a.m.
Police said a 27-year-old woman suffered a gunshot wound to the leg and a 28-year-old man sustained injuries to his head and face after a fight.
Police are looking for two suspects, a black male wearing a white shirt and light-colored pants and a black male of stocky build with medium to long dreadlocks and facial hair.
The second suspect was last seen wearing a black shirt and black pants and is believed to have a handgun.
Police were called to the 200 block of East Main Street and said they immediately dispersed the large crowd and interviewed witnesses.
Their initial investigation revealed both victims were exiting Mojo’s, at 213 East Main St., when an argument began between the male and several unknown suspects. It quickly escalated into a physical fight, police said.
The suspects began assaulting the male as he was trying to get to his vehicle to leave, police said.
One suspect produced a handgun and began shooting at the man. The bullet hit the female’s leg, police said.
The suspects fled.
Police said the female victim was treated and released at Peninsula Regional Medical Center. The male was treated at PRMC then transported to R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center.
During the investigation, police will work with Mojo’s staff and those from nearby businesses to locate and analyze video surveillance footage. As footage is obtained and analyzed, it will be released in hopes of identifying the suspects, police said.
