Salisbury man charged in Hebron assault

A 19-year-old Salisbury man was in the Wicomico County Detention Center on $50,000 bail charged with first-degree assault, handgun on person and reckless endangerment, according to the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office.

Aaron Benjamin Pittman was arrested Aug. 11 at 8 a.m. in connection with a felony assault at a house in the 9000 block of Jarrett Drive in Hebron, a deputy said.

The deputy said a man entered the residence brandishing a semi-automatic handgun and confronted three occupants after an argument about no longer buying marijuana from him.

The occupants all said they thought their lives were being threatened by the man, who said he would shoot if money was not exchanged, the deputy said.

The deputy said he applied for and obtained a warrant, then arrested Pittman.

City police announce shoplifting arrests

The Salisbury Police Department has released shoplifting arrests that occurred Aug. 10-Aug. 18. Investigations resulted in arrests of the following people:

Marcus Adonus McConnell, 24, of Ocean City; Kristen April Bullion, 31, of Salisbury; Eric Blair Hartmann, 51, of Parkville, Md.; juvenile female of Salisbury.

Jeremiah Isaac Ross, 19, of Salisbury; Kyle Lee Nickle, 20, of Salisbury; Stacey Ann Parks, 31, of Hebron; Domyno Autumn Krystem-Tuezey Lecates, 21, of Bethel, Del.; and juvenile female of Delmar.

Man facing charges after incident in Parsonsburg

A 41-year-old Parsonsburg man was in the Wicomico County Detention Center charged with possession of controlled dangerous substance and related charges, according to the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office.

Jason Michael Layfield was also charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, possession of CDS with intent to distribute and possession of CDS paraphernalia, deputies said.

He was arrested after deputies went to Parsonsburg Road in Parsonsburg after receiving a report that a man was firing a shotgun and threatening occupants, a deputy said.Deputies and Maryland State Police troopers arrested Layfield without incident, they said.

The Wicomico County Bureau of Investigation responded to the scene and took over the investigation. It was determined that a man arrived home appearing to be intoxicated and was upset over a game of pool, deputies said.

He argued with the occupants of the home, retrieved a shotgun from his bedroom and went outside where he shot the weapon into the air, deputies said.He went back inside, reloaded the weapon, targeted a female occupant then turned the gun on himself and threatened to take his life, deputies said.

He shot the gun, and a bullet went into the living room ceiling, deputies said. Nobody was injured.

The man was in possession of a large quantity of marijuana and paraphernalia related to distribution, deputies said.

Man held in argument, encounter on East Road

A 25-year-old Salisbury man was in the Wicomico County Detention Center on $125,000 bail charged with first-degree assault, possession of a firearm during a crime of violence and reckless endangerment, according to Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office deputies.

Keandra L. Hargis was arrested Aug. 11 on the 1000 block of East Road, Salisbury, a deputy said.

The deputy said he responded to an apartment complex around 3 p.m. for an argument involving a firearm. The deputy met with a woman who said a man brandished a handgun during an argument and that they struggled for control of it, and it fired, the deputy said.

The woman left the apartment.

Deputies were told by witnesses that they heard the gun.

Hargis was found nearby and arrested, the deputy said.
