Salisbury Christmas Parade set Sunday, Dec. 7

Posted

SALISBURY — The 79th annual Salisbury Christmas Parade, this year sponsored by Mountaire Farms and hosted by the Salisbury Jaycees, will be held Sunday, Dec. 7 with Dec. 14 the rain date.

The parade starts at 1 p.m. at the corner of Civic Avenue and Mt. Hermon Road and heads down East Main Street, ending at the City Park.

The Grand Marshal will be Buck Burton, a beloved music educator with Wicomico County Public Schools for 34 years. Beyond the classroom, he shares his musical talent with local groups including The Dove, the Salisbury Symphony, Country Grass, and the Salisbury Community Band.

A passionate restorer of antique cars and model trains, Buck will ride in his 1949 Chevrolet Pickup — cowboy hat and all — perfectly embodying this year’s theme, “Holly Jolly Hoedown.”

Entries are being accepted until Nov. 28. For applications and more information visit the Salisbury Jaycees’ Facebook page at www.facebook.com/salisburyjaycees. Email parade@salisburyjc.com for interest in participating or any other questions about the event.
