The Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce reached a milestone last month when its membership reached 800 area businesses.
SACC has served as the primary voice and advocate of the Lower Eastern Shore business community since 1920. The organization is dedicated to promoting a positive business environment by supporting economic development throughout Delmarva.
SACC is 4-star accredited from the United States Chamber of Commerce. Only 3 percent of all Chambers in the nation are accredited and SACC is the only accredited Chamber in the state of Maryland.
“The improvement in the economic environment is evident as the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce continues to grow its membership base representing in excess of 800 total members,” said CEO Ernie Colburn.
“The value of being a member of the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce symbolizes there’s ‘power in numbers’ through our advocacy and government relations division, as well as our community outreach, membership, and business and economic development divisions,” Colburn said.
“The Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce is tuned in to the community and its service area and remains ‘relevant’ in these key areas.”
“Exceeding the 800 Chamber members number is more than a milestone for us,” said SACC President Dr. Memo Diriker. “It is the finishing line of a five year journey.
“This has been a journey of making our Chamber more relevant to our members and their customer’s needs and wants, enhancing the business and economic development impact of our Chamber, and being a catalyst for positive change in our community,” Diriker said.
“ It is also the starting gate of our next journey,” he said. “With a 1,000-member Chamber as our goal, we fully intend to do more for our members and our community; we intend to do it better, and we intend to have a lot of fun along the way. I invite everyone reading these lines to join us on this new journey.”
SACC membership provides opportunities for networking, marketing and promoting, legislative representation, professional development, community involvement and more.
