Ryan: Upgrade to Dagsboro’s electrical substation would be right step

Posted

Sussex County Council must approve the conditional use permit to allow improvements to the Dagsboro electrical substation.

It is all about energy!

The information revolution, which is now more reliant than ever on artificial intelligence and the data centers that provide support for AI, requires massive amounts of energy capacity to facilitate this 21st-century phenomenon.

If Sussex County were to fail to approve the conditional use permit for the proposed Dagsboro electrical substation, it would be denying a major opportunity to strengthen the local electrical grid at no cost.

The opportunity to build out the local electrical grid will benefit everyone who is grid-connected. We desperately need “grid infrastructure modernization” because of our rapid growth.

In my opinion, County Council has a fiduciary responsibility to all residents of Sussex County to approve this permit because it creates new jobs for electrical workers and reduces electricity rates for all. I call upon all members of Sussex County Council to vote yes on the proposal, so our county will have the capacity to meet the energy demands required for our continued economic growth.
