FELTON - Ruth Loretta Martin, of Felton, passed away peacefully in her sleep early Monday, Feb. 23, 2009, in Milford Memorial Hospital. She was 74. Ruth was born on Sept. 1, 1934, in Delmar, daughter of the late William and Katherine (Mitchell) Elliott. Ruth and Bob were married in 1953 and lived for many years in Marion, Ohio, before returning to the Eastern Shore in the early 1980s. She was a dedicated employee of Rite Aid in Milford for 11 years before retiring three years ago. Her hobbies included watching western movies, reading, and feeding her birds and squirrels. Her greatest joy was spending time with her beloved great-grandchildren, Lazarus Adamopoulos, Andrew Joseph, and Kayleigh Martin. She was awaiting the birth of her second great-granddaughter in May 2009. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert Eugene Martin Jr.; a sister, Louise Jewell; and her brothers, William "Bill" Elliott Jr., Richard "Buck" Elliott, and Franklin "Frank" Wilson. Ruth is survived by her husband of 56 years, Robert E. Martin of Felton; a daughter, Linda M. Wagenhals of Delmar; a son, James K. Martin of Felton; a sister, Kathleen Searcey of Delmar, Md.; four grandchildren, Erica Joseph of Laurel, Andrew Martin of White Marsh, Md., James Martin II of Ocean Pines, Md., and Michael Wagenhals of Delmar; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside private family service was held in Marion, Ohio, Saturday, Feb. 28 in Chapel Heights Memory Garden. Arrangements are being handled by Pippin Funeral Home, Wyoming.
