MILFORD - Ruth Elizabeth Yoder Bontrager, of Milford, passed peacefully from this life after a long illness on Sunday morning, March 15, 2009, aged 90 years, 7 months, 27 days. Ruth was born July 16, 1918, in Greenwood, to David S. and Savilla Bender Yoder. On April 13, 1941, she married her husband of nearly 68 years, Eli Bontrager, who survives. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant stillborn sister in Grantsville, Md.; and brothers, Mark Yoder and John Yoder, both of Greenwood. Besides her husband she is survived by six brothers and two sisters, David Yoder of Goshen, Ind., Amos Yoder of Lititz, Pa., Naomi Yoder of Blountstown, Fla., Daniel Yoder of Dover, Paul (PT) Yoder of Harrisonburg, Va., Luke Yoder of Bay Port, Mich., and Jesse Yoder of Dover, and Miriam Hull of Wytheville, Va. Ruth and Eli have seven children, David of Intercourse, Pa., Leona Slavin of Harrington, Joseph Bontrager of Milford, Esther Leese of Freeland, Md., James of Milford, Lucy Yoder of Baltimore, and Philip of Archbold, Ohio; and 17 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m., today, March 19, at the Greenwood Mennonite Church, 12525 Shawnee Rd., Greenwood. Visitation was held Wednesday, March 18, at the church. Interment will be at the church cemetery. Arrangements by Fleischauer Funeral Home, Greenwood.
